Multi-Ply Bellows

A multi-ply bellows is built from several thin plies (layers) rather than one thick wall of equivalent strength. Uma Bellows manufactures metal bellows in single-ply, double-ply, and multi-ply configurations up to seven plies.

How it works

Multiple thin plies flex more readily than one thick wall carrying the same load, which improves both the joint's flexibility and its fatigue life under repeated cycling — thin material flexes without the same accumulated stress a single thick wall would see.

  • Available single-ply, double-ply, or multi-ply up to seven, per Uma Bellows' standard range
  • Thinner individual plies flex more readily than one thick wall
  • Improves fatigue life under repeated movement cycles
  • Ply count is selected to match pressure rating and expected cycle life
