Rectangular Bellows
Where the duct cross-section is rectangular rather than round — large low-pressure ducting, HVAC runs, and industrial exhaust systems — a rectangular bellows absorbs the same thermal expansion and vibration a round bellows would, built to the duct's own shape instead of forcing a transition to circular pipe.
How it works
The flat sides of a rectangular bellows see different stress than the rounded corners, so corner geometry is engineered specifically to manage that stress concentration rather than treated as an afterthought. Construction otherwise follows the same convoluted-metal principle as round bellows.
- Matches rectangular or square duct cross-section directly
- Corner-radius design manages stress concentration at corners
- Common in large-volume, low-pressure duct systems
- Absorbs thermal expansion and vibration in ductwork runs
